What is.png

This is a first-of-its-kind campaign that offers the public the chance to get to grips with the global plastic problem by receiving a comprehensive insight into what they throw away and where it goes

  • The most relevant and representative snapshot of what is being thrown away by people in the UK.

  • Open sourced and brand new data on consumer habits, attitudes and behaviours towards plastic waste.

  • No other campaign allows people to directly address exactly what they are buying and its environmental impact.

Whether you’re at home, at school, at work or in groups, your plastic footprint will show you how much of your weekly plastic waste will be recycled or exported, how much is food packaging, single-use packaging.

But most importantly, it highlights the quick, simple and cheap changes, that when taken together, can make an enormous difference.

After months in development, Dr Julie Schneider created a methodology specifically to examine my collection of plastic waste using publicly available data.

By applying hundreds of our unique formulae and methodology to a wider sample, we will be able to give a detailed picture of the plastic problem in the UK through the nation’s throwaway plastic.

Who can.png

No matter who and where you are, or what your knowledge and experience of plastic pollution is, we can guarantee you will come out the other side more informed and galvanised to make changes.

Based on my experience, having knowledge of your own personal plastic footprint will motivate you to:

  • Reduce your plastic consumption. After you’ve completed the survey, we’ll be able to tell you what plastic you can cut out.

  • Have a better understanding of the impact of plastic on the environment. Learning what your individual impact is through taking part in a shared experience.

  • Get active! Whether it’s sharing your experience on social media, starting a plastic-free group or writing to your local supermarket manager, collective campaigning builds new communities.

There are different funding levels and benefits available for a wide range of brands and organisations. We believe that this project is particularly suitable for…

  • Businesses offering genuine solutions to the plastic problem through products or services

  • Organisations wanting to support environmental projects and campaigns as part of their CSR strategy

  • Corporations undergoing change by trying to reduce their impact on the plastic problem and who are preparing to make significant changes to their business practise

Please get in touch with Daniel to find out how your organisation can support The Everyday Plastic Survey.

If my experiment can prompt huge changes in me, as one person… What could it do on a national scale?

There’s still so much we don’t know about the plastic problem, despite the press headlines, TV shows and Instagram posts.

This project shows how the magnitude of the global plastic crisis can be scaled right down to an individual’s personal choices and habits. And that the best way to learn about this issue is through establishing a more personal connection to what you throw away.
