What we do

The problem

The effects of the plastic problem that are felt across society.

Whilst governments pledge and industries promise, plastic production is set to double by 2040. Plastic pollutes the ocean, land and air; burning it causes climate breakdown and studies have even found microplastics in people’s blood and breast milk.

At the heart of the problem is single-use packaging – embodying the consumerism model that perfectly blends the interests of the economy and society to forge the foundation of modern living – convenience.

But this is a big and complicated problem, so our histlist is as follows:

Everyday plastic: Especially the over-production and over-consumption of single-use plastic packaging.

Lack of transparency: In particular, murky reporting, scapegoating, greenwashing and myth-pushing.

Throwaway culture: We’re constantly influenced to buy new and buy more. But it’s causing unimaginable waste and harm.

Our vision

A society where everyone can access a life with less plastic.

Plastic has completely changed how we live our lives.  So much so that it's almost impossible to avoid when we eat, work or play.

We’re here to show that there’s an alternative to our throwaway culture: people armed with knowledge about plastic; communities with a can-do approach to making a difference; decision-makers focused on circular solutions and less waste.

All of us coming together as a society with less plastic.

Our mission

To tackle the plastic problem with campaigns, learning and research that connect with everyday people.

We don’t need this much plastic in our lives. It’s affecting us all on multiple levels. In buying and spending too much, as well as in worrying about our health and the environment.

So we do the following in a way that’s relatable and rallying to inspire hope and action to make our vision real:

Campaigns: We’re putting pressure on government and businesses for better regulations and practice around plastic use and disposal.

Learning: We’re spreading knowledge and inspiring behaviour change across audiences through our projects.

Consultancy: We’re sharing credible insights so everyone can get to grips with the plastic problem and solutions.

Our values

Everyday impact

We’re always exploring the impact of plastic on everyday lives and encouraging understanding of how we can have impact to change it for the better, at home, in business, and in society.

Everyday talk

The plastic problem is big and complex. To cut through and connect to people about it, we use honest, hopeful and relatable communications and share real-life experiences.

Everyone invited

We believe in the power of togetherness. So no matter your background, age or knowledge, where you work or where you live, you’re invited to learn more, share your experience and feel empowered to make a difference in your own way.
