Everyday Plastic joins 155 organisations across Europe for the first Day of Action Against Incineration, calling for an end to new waste incinerators. Despite being promoted as a quick fix, incineration is a climate and health threat — releasing millions of tonnes of toxic ash and CO₂ each year, often in marginalised communities. The Big Plastic Count 2024 revealed that 58% of UK household plastic waste is being burned, exposing the failure of the current system. Everyday Plastic is working with communities most affected, supporting the Zero Waste Europe “Better than Burning” campaign and UKWIN’s open letter to the UK government. We’re demanding investment in real solutions: cutting plastic production, reducing waste, and scaling up reuse and recycling — not locking ourselves into decades of burning.
