7 tips for a less plastic picnic

Woohoo, it’s picnic season! We’ll be heading out for a picnic this weekend and wanted to share with you our 7 less plastic tips to make your picnic as waste-minimal as possible.

  1. Raid the cutlery drawer home and take what you need.

  2. Buy loose fruit and veg. Chop up at home and take to your picnic in an old takeaway tub.

  3. Whizz up your own hummus. All it takes is a tin of chickpeas, some tahini, garlic, lemon and olive oil and blend together – yum!

  4. Use tea towels to wrap your sandwiches, instead of cling film. They can also double up as napkins.

  5. Big bags of crisps to share rather than individual packs (OK, you will end up with a crisp bag to dispose of, but at least it’s one between your group, not lots of individual packets).

  6. Bring along water or juice (or gin and tonic?) in a reusable bottle.

  7. Pack it all in a trusty rucksack or one of the bags you have in your cupboard.

Now get out and enjoy the fresh air!
